Synopsis:
The Demo Tapes (Year 3) — The popular Demo Tapes series continues with The Demo Tapes: Year 3. It’s the same format you’ve come to know and love: short fiction previously posted on The Meet and Greet at West of Mars, and intros to each that let you, the reader, look into the mind of the author and creator of the indomitable Trevor Wolff.
Trevor and his best friend Mitchell Voss are in fine form in these stories, first published online between March 2008 and April 2009. From Thanksgiving to Halloween and a few new characters who help round out The Musical Hanukkah Celebration, we once again get to watch the guys go from kids into the men who ride the wave of being rock’s biggest band: ShapeShifter.
Book Background:
The Demo Tapes project actually began in 2007, when the readers of my blog revolted and demanded a book containing the short fiction I’d been featuring on my blog. They wanted the stories in order, too, from the day Trevor and Mitchell met up through what would be taking place in the novel (Trevor’s Song) they were expecting, and then beyond.
The Demo Tapes were all about my readers, from day one. As the project grew and people who had never stopped by the blog began buying, I realized my fans had picked up on something before I did. To me, the fiction in The Demo Tapes was secondary to the novel. To them, it was extra time they got to spend with Trevor and Mitchell. It was a deeper look into characters who seemed real to them, so real that sometimes, they had a hard time remembering they were fake.
I’m only projecting two more Demo Tapes anthologies beyond this newest one. The time couldn’t be better to take the plunge; each book stands alone although at the same time, they all work together to give you a fuller, more complete picture of Trevor Wolff, Mitchell Voss, and the rest of ShapeShifter.
